# The St Joseph’s Intermediate Paediatric Care says for nine decades, it has been a beacon of hope for thousands of children requiring transitional medical care. It is celebrating 90 years of pioneering paediatric transitional healthcare. St Joseph’s provides free transitional medical and therapeutic care for children with chronic illnesses and disabilities. Festivities over the past few months have included a garden party for patients and staff and a Thanksgiving service with donors and partners.
# The Green Connection’s Koeksister Project is hosting a Community Market Day in Langebaan in the Western Cape today. The event offers local entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their products, share knowledge, and celebrate community resilience. The Green Connection’s Liz McDaid says highlights will include market stalls, interactive learning stations, cultural activities, and a screening of the film SPOILED, which explores coastal communities defending South Africa’s marine ecosystems:
# The Nelson Mandela University says its Isisusa Jazz Fest Concert 2025 was a multilingual celebration of music and heritage. More than 140 performers filled the stage at the Feather Market Centre in a programme designed to echo the country’s diverse voices. This year’s theme, Mqhayi Meets Mandela, explored how isiXhosa poet S.E.K. Mqhayi helped shape Nelson Mandela’s sense of purpose through language and performance. A few standout performances included the men’s vocal quartet, The Creed, Jazz quartet Moment’s Notice and the Nelson Mandela University Choir.
# More than 200 people participated in SANParks’ annual Cancer Awareness Walk in the Wilderness Section of the Garden Route National Park. The walk honoured survivors, supported those currently affected by cancer, and raised awareness about the importance of prevention, early detection, and treatment. SANParks’ spokesperson, JP Louw, says the six-kilometre path symbolises resilience and collective strength:
# And finally: Hisense SA says it believes in empowering the next generation, whether through cutting-edge technology or supporting young South Africans in pursuing their dreams. The company has confirmed a 240-thouand-rand sponsorship that will cover the tuition of the Real Madrid Foundation’s most talented South African soccer player for the next five years. The foundation’s Jevron Epstein says the sponsorship aims to support a 12-year-old rising star in pursuing his dream of breaking into the European leagues:
