Soccer: Players’ union warns about extreme heat at 2026 World Cup

# Soccer: Global players’ union FIFPro sounded the alarm over the dangers of playing in extreme heat at next year’s World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. In the wake of the Club World Cup, which ran through June and July in the US this year, FIFPro’s Alexander Bielefeld called the tournament a wake-up call in the context of a warming planet. Many of the matches took place in the middle of the afternoon when temperatures often soared well past 30 degrees Celsius.
