# The National Energy Regulator has announced the commencement of a focused market inquiry into the implementation and impact of fixed charges and other associated charges levied by electricity distributors, including Eskom and municipalities. NERSA’s spokesperson, Charles Hlebela says this market inquiry aims to reveal how the distributors formulate charges, which resulted in substantially high increases being added to the approved 12.74-percent tariff increase for Eskom for the 2025/2026 financial year:
