# The High Court in Pietermaritzburg has handed double life sentences to hitman Sabelo Phewa for the 2017 murder of Richmond Municipal manager, Sibusiso Sithole. Sithole was gunned down outside the Richmond Licensing Office while en-route to a meeting to discuss an investigation into rampant fraud and corruption within the municipality, specifically concerning tenders and kickbacks. Phewa was also linked to the murder of Amos Ngcobo whose wife had ordered his hit in Hillcrest, west of Durban. Phewa was also sentenced for attempted murder, firearm possession, and ammunition charges.
