Spokesperson Amanda van Wyk says fraudsters send fake letters, WhatsApp messages, and intimidating calls, sometimes claiming non-existent cases or police stations, to extract money or personal information. Van Wyk reminds citizens that the police will never demand payment or communicate via WhatsApp or video calls. She urges the public not to share personal details or respond to suspicious messages:
