Zimbabwe lifts 2025 growth forecast on tobacco harvest, gold price rally

# Zimbabwe has revised its 2025 economic growth forecast upward to 6.6-percent, from an earlier six-percent. Finance minister Mthuli Ncube says the improved outlook is driven by a stronger-than-expected tobacco harvest and a global gold price rally boosting mining revenues. Last year, growth slowed to just two-percent after an El Niño-induced drought hit crop yields and hydropower. With agriculture recovering, especially in tobacco and maize, and mining benefiting from high commodity prices, economists say Zimbabwe’s economy is showing signs of resilience.
