# The Cape Peninsula University of Technology has announced professor Brian Figaji as its new chancellor. The university council approved the appointment earlier this month, with Figaji officially taking up the role on Sunday for a four-year term. Figaji previously served as rector of the former Peninsula Technicon, which merged with Cape Technicon to form CPUT two decades ago. He succeeds Thandi Modise. The university says it is privileged to have Figaji lead the institution.
