# The DA in the Western Cape has welcomed CapeNature’s swift action following the death of a young leopard in Heidelberg, trapped with illegal gin traps. Following the incident, CapeNature launched an investigation and referred the matter to the National Prosecuting Authority. The DA’s Dave Bryant says the use of gin traps is illegal without a permit. He adds that this incident is a reminder of the legal implications and ethical responsibilities surrounding wildlife:
