# The General Industries Workers Union of South Africa says the latest unemployment figures confirm that South Africa’s unemployment crisis is worsening under the ANC’s failed neoliberal policies. The official unemployment rate has risen to 33.2-percent, with 8.4-million people now officially jobless. GIWUSA president, Mametlwe Sebei says as the union has consistently pointed out, the expanded unemployment rate of 42.9-percent proves that the capitalist system cannot and will not provide jobs for the people:
