# The City of Cape Town says it remains committed to empowering small, medium and micro enterprises, a vital engine for economic growth and job creation. Mayoral committee member for Economic Growth, James Vos, recently participated in events aimed at boosting the capabilities and market access of local entrepreneurs. Vos says, according to research by the South African Journal of Inter/Multidisciplinary Studies, SMMEs account for more than 75-percent of new job opportunities:
