# The Health Professions Council of South Africa says it remains resolute in its mandate to detect and act against illegal practices in the healthcare sector. Five bogus practitioners were arrested between April and June this year. The latest is the arrest of a Congolese national, Basa Bafumba-Nkoy, who was caught practising without being registered at a family practice in Yeoville, Johannesburg. The HPCSA says registered practitioners must respect their legal and ethical responsibility, and ensure only qualified and registered professionals work at their practices.
