# Communications minister Solly Malatsi has gazetted the Draft White Paper on Audio and Audiovisual Media Services and Online Safety. He also launched a smart device access initiative aimed at learners, students, and township entrepreneurs. Malatsi called on the private sector to support the rollout under the SA Connect programme. He says the department will implement monthly governance reviews and cost controls, while restructuring entities like the Universal Service and Access Agency of South Africa, to ensure accountability and drive universal connectivity across the country.
