# ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula says the revelations made by KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi about alleged corruption in the South African Police Service are now a matter for the government to handle. Speaking to the media in Barberton, Mpumalanga, Mbalula announced that the party will reflect on the matter during its normal leadership meeting on Monday, following president Cyril Ramaphosa’s public address on Sunday:
# The Road Traffic Management Corporation has confirmed that its CEO, Makhosini Msibi, has been placed on precautionary suspension. This follows whistleblower allegations of financial misconduct, irregular spending and governance failures. Transport Ministry spokesperson Collen Msibi says Refilwe Mongale has been appointed as the interim CEO to ensure continuity during the probe:
# The National Consumer Commission has announced the recall of certain Range Rover Evoque and Mercedes-Benz models due to safety risks. Jaguar Land Rover is recalling 2021 to 2025 Evoque models over faulty airbags that may tear during deployment, while a fuse box fault in certain 2023 Mercedes-Benz models may cause power loss or increase the risk of fire. The commission’s Phetho Ntaba urges affected consumers to visit authorised dealerships for free repairs:
# The UK has announced reforms to its Developing Countries Trading Scheme to boost exports from African nations and strengthen economic ties. The revised scheme simplifies rules of origin and grants zero or reduced tariffs on thousands of goods. UK Development minister, Jenny Chapman, says developing nations want trade, not aid. The reforms, covering 65 countries, include support to meet UK standards and enable service exports. Last year, African exports to the UK were valued at 67-billion-rand.

# Cycling: Tadej Pogacar won stage 7 of the Tour de France to retake the overall lead. Jonas Vingegaard was second, right on Pogacar’s wheel at the line with Briton Oscar Onley third. Pogacar, the defending champion, gained four seconds on Vingegaard. In the overall standings, Remco Evenepoel is second overall, 54 seconds off first as he came sixth on the day. French starlet Kevin Vauquelin continues his bright run in third, while two-time champion Vingegaard is fourth. The overnight leader, Mathieu van der Poel, rounds out the top five.
# And rugby: Eight Tests are on offer for enthusiasts this weekend. Fiji and Soctland kicked off the action in Suva this morning, followed by Japan and Wales in Kobi and the second Test between the All Blacks and France in Wellington. Just after five this afternoon, the Springboks and Italy take to the field in the second Test in Gqeberha. Portugal will host Ireland in Dafundu, Uruguay and Romania will play in Montevideo, and Argentina and England will face off in Pocito. Tomorrow, America will welcome Spain to Bremen.
