Social Development Department sounds alarm on illegal rehab centres amid Drug Abuse Awareness Day

# The Department of Social Development has warned against illegal treatment centres endangering vulnerable lives. This comes as South Africa joins the world in marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse in Standerton, Mpumalanga. The department says that Standerton, a known drug trafficking hotspot, has seen major drug busts in recent months. The department urges use of registered facilities, with 103 illegal centres already identified with 16 successfully closed. The department encourages individuals struggling with substance use disorders to seek help from registered, reputable facilities.
