# ActionSA councillor Nobuhle Mthembu has been removed as speaker of the Johannesburg council following a successful motion of no confidence. Councillors voted overwhelmingly in favour of her removal, with 212 votes supporting the motion and 48 against. There were no abstentions. Mayor Dada Morero and council chief whip Sthembiso Zungu survived similar motions. ActionSA opted to abstain from the vote, citing Morero’s failure to deliver basic services across the city.
