NEASA and Sakeliga issue legal ultimatum over new employment equity regulations

# The National Employers’ Association of South Africa and business organisation Sakeliga have given Employment and Labour minister, Nomakhosazana Meth until 18 June to suspend new employment equity regulations or face urgent legal action. The groups oppose rules forcing companies with 50 or more staff to meet race, gender, and disability quotas or face fines of up to 10-percent of turnover. Sakeliga CEO Piet le Roux says the quotas are unconstitutional and would cause serious harm to businesses and the economy.
