Illegal fishing and plastic waste is a threat to Mozambique’s ocean biodiversity

# Mozambique’s Secretary of State for the Sea and Fisheries, Momade Juízo, has warned that illegal fishing, mangrove destruction, and plastic waste are posing serious threats to the country’s biodiversity. He has stressed the need to protect the two-thousand-700-kilometre coastline. Juízo says reforms are currently underway at the sector level, aimed at strengthening the political, legal and institutional framework for improving the management of the sea and increasing individual and collective responsibility.
