# Eskom has suspended load-shedding from 10am until 4pm today due to lower-than-expected electricity demand and slightly improved generating capacity. Stage two and three load-shedding were implemented on Tuesday and Wednesday after being suspended continuously for 18 days. Eskom spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena is urging South Africans to continue to use electricity sparingly and efficiently, including switching off geysers and pool pumps, as this helps to lower demand:
# The South African Union of Students says it seems that minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Blade Nzimande has been running a money-criminal ring led by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme board chairperson, Ernest Khoza. This after Outa revealed that Nzimande and Khoza have allegedly used NSFAS as a cash cow and thereby established their own money-criminal syndicate. SAUS spokesperson, Asive Dlanjwa says they effectively hijacked a vehicle espoused to educate and alleviate the pain, suffering and poverty of the poor to enrich themselves and subsequently their cronies:
Meanwhile, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Blade Nzimande, has rejected what he calls, the malicious allegations contained in the leaked Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse report. Nzimande has further reassured the public that he never used any money from any of the department’s entities to fund the South African Communist Party. The department’s spokesperson, Veli Mbele says the minister views the allegations contained in this leaked report as reckless and largely based on gossip and intended to undermine a smooth start to the 2024 academic year.
# Rugby: England skipper and fly-half star Owen Farrell has been linked with a move to French Top 14 side Racing-92, according to media reports. By recruiting a new big name in world rugby, Racing-92 would strike another big blow after the arrival, earlier, of South Africa captain and two-time World Cup winner, Siya Kolisi. Newspapers claim the 32-year-old Farrell will pen a deal for two or three years this summer. Capped 112 times, Farrell would leave Saracens and link up with former England coach Stuart Lancaster at the high-profile Paris outfit.
# And finally: President Cyril Ramaphosa has granted esteemed photographer and anti-apartheid activist Peter Magubane, a Special Provincial Official Funeral Category 2. He died on New Year’s Day at the age of 91. Ramaphosa also issued an instruction that the National flag must fly at half-mast in the Gauteng province on the day of Magubane’s funeral, as a sign of respect to him. The premier Panayza Lesufi’s spokesperson, Sizwe Pamla, says the Special Provincial Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday:
