Western Cape High Court rules Hlophe not fit to serve on the JSC

# The High Court in the Western Cape has ruled Parliament acted unlawfully in appointing fired judge and MK Party deputy leader John Hlophe to the Judicial Service Commission. The court stated that a judge removed for misconduct cannot be entrusted with safeguarding judicial integrity. Hlophe was impeached for trying to influence two Constitutional Court judges in a case involving former president Jacob Zuma. Hlophe and his party have also been ordered to pay punitive legal costs for making insulting remarks during the proceedings.
