# Tennis: A new era dawns in Paris tomorrow when the French Open starts without 14-time champion Rafael Nadal for the first time since 2005. The king of clay has an amazing record at Roland Garros, winning 112 matches and only losing four – to Sweden’s Robin Soderling in 2009, Novak Djokovic of Serbia in 2015 and 2021, and to Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the first round last year. Thirty-eight-year-old Nadal, who retired late last year, will be honoured with a special ceremony tomorrow.
