# Africa has officially launched its first continental space agency, headquartered in Cairo, Egypt, under the African Union. The African Space Agency aims to coordinate fragmented national efforts, launch satellites, and improve climate data sharing across the continent. With 63 satellites already launched by 18 African countries, the agency will build on existing efforts to tackle climate change, early warning systems, and data gaps. Partnerships with the European Space Agency are already in place to boost expertise and training.
