Minister Hlabisa launches White Paper review to rescue failing municipalities [SOUND]

# The Department of Cooperative Governance has launched a review of the 1998 White Paper on Local Government, which could see the number of municipalities reduced from 257. Speaking at the launch in Kempton Park in Gauteng, minister Velenkosini Hlabisa said some municipalities are no longer financially viable and fail to deliver services. Hlabisa also warned against the politicisation of municipalities and said the process should be complete by March next year:
