# Cricket: Top-order batter Shubman Gill and pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah are regarded as favourites to become India’s new Test captain after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Tests yesterday. Thirty-eight-year-old Sharma leaves after a prolonged run drought which led to him being dropped from the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney in January. Bumrah captained India in that encounter as well as the first Test in Perth, which was their only victory of the series. Gill currently captains Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League.
