# Road running: World Athletics announced it had cancelled this year’s Road Running Championships, a month after it was moved from the initial host city, San Diego in the US. The governing body says it had held discussions with a number of potential alternative hosts, but decided to cancel the event due to a lack of essential planning and preparation time required to cater for both elite and mass participation race elements. The next World Road Running Championships will now be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in September next year.
