# Cape Town mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has expressed his condolences to the Catholic community of the metro on the passing of Pope Francis. The 88-year-old died of a stroke and subsequent irreversible heart failure on Monday morning. He was recently discharged from the hospital after weeks of treatment for an infection.
