Judge finds probable cause to hold Trump officials in contempt over deportations

# US federal judge James Boasberg has ruled that probable cause exists to hold officials of president Donald Trump’s administration in criminal contempt. This is for violating his orders to halt the use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport over 200 alleged Venezuelan gang members last month. The 227-year-old law is meant to protect the US during wartime to carry out mass deportation. Boasberg says that senior Trump officials can either return the people who were supposed to have been protected by his injunction or face contempt proceedings.
