# Scalar International and Mergence Investment Managers have launched the Africa Decarbonisation Fund I, to finance clean energy and digital infrastructure projects across Southern Africa. Scalar International’s managing director, Hubert Gutsa, says the fund aims to raise between 1.8 and 2.8-billion-rand to invest in energy efficiency, on-site power generation, smart grids, and battery storage. Gutsa confirmed that at least 25-percent of investments will support underserved communities, focusing on indigenous, women, and youth-led businesses. The initiative also plans to create up to 15-thousand full-time jobs.
