Landmark ruling in UK Supreme Court says legal definition of ‘woman’ excludes trans women

# The United Kingdom’s highest court delivered a unanimous judgment that the definition of a woman under equality law refers to biological sex and that the legal definition of woman excludes trans women. Five judges ruled in favor of For Women Scotland which proposed that not linking the legal definition of gender to biological sex would have repercussions on designated single-sex services. The judgment will have sweeping consequences for how equality laws are applied. A government spokesperson said single-sex spaces are protected in law and will always be protected.
