# The chairperson of Parliament’s standing committee on Finance and ANC member Joe Maswanganyi, has defended the budget process, dismissing claims of procedural irregularities. He says the committee followed due process, including issuing public hearing adverts, receiving 51 submissions, and considering input from the National Treasury and South African Revenue Service. Maswanganyi urged members of Parliament to vote for the report in the interest of citizens, not party politics:
