# Eskom has welcomed National Energy Regulator of South Africa’s approval of a Distribution Agency Agreement, enabling the transfer of electricity services from Phumelela Local Municipality to Eskom in Warden and Ezenzeleni, Free State. This follows Phumelela’s 2022 resolution after Eskom’s Active Partnering solution improved revenue collection and service quality. Eskom aims to complete the transition by May 2025. Eskom says it remains committed to ensuring reliable electricity, supporting municipalities, and addressing outstanding municipal debt to improve service delivery and reduce load-shedding.
