# Springbok legend Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira will support Stellenbosch University’s annual Social Justice walk on Sunday. The event forms part of the #Action4Inclusion crowdfunding initiative, to help pay off student debt. The university’s spokesperson, Martin Viljoen, says this walk is testament to the power of unity, empathy, and action in bridging divides and building a community where all can belong:
# Twenty-two-year-old North West University master’s degree student in Communication, Neo Nkhumane, says her initiative, Beyond Borders, is testament to her commitment to social change. The project focuses on three pillars, nameley Education and Awareness, Empowerment, and Partnerships and Collaborations. Nkhumane, who is a semifinalist in this year’s Miss World South Africa pageant, says through her initiative, she is not only changing lives but also setting a powerful example for young women everywhere.
# An exhibition of vintage Xhosa textiles and artefacts titled Buttons and Bows, will open at the TerraContemporary gallery in Pretoria on Saturday. The collection is by Tshwane University of Technology alum and former staff member, Marion Gebhardt, who has been purchasing authentic, ethnic beadwork, garments and artefacts since the 1980’s. She says the purpose of the exhibition is to act as a backdrop to inspire new creative outlets while raising awareness of traditions that may be forgotten and lost forever.
# Cruise Cape Town is poised to transform the landscape of tourism in the Western Cape. The collaborative public-private partnership aims to harness and promote the immense potential of Cape Town and the Western Cape as a premier cruise destination. It will bolster the local economy and promote sustainable tourism practices, all whilst setting the stage for a broader exploration of Africa’s vast and diverse offerings.
# And finally: Music lovers can look forward to a busy and vibrant entertainment calendar in South Africa in the upcoming months. The likes of Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, and bands such as Keane and Meduza, will come to Mzansi. iTOO Special Risks head of events, Mamoeti Nosi, says the events featuring international acts will be expected to run like well-oiled machines, while also meeting the expectations of both the attendees and artists:
