# Police minister Bheki Cele has welcomed the postponement of the bail hearing and unmasking of suspects in the murders of Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane. Speaking after proceedings in the Durban Magistrate’s Court, Cele applauded investigators for the arrests. He deems the rapper’s murder a significant loss to the country and expressed the nation’s grief following the murders in February last year:
# Corruption-accused former Bosasa chief operating official Angelo Agrizzi is fit to stand trial after he underwent a psychiatric evaluation in the Weskoppies Hospital in Gauteng. Psychiatrists did however recommend the High Court in Pretoria considers shorter sessions or more frequent breaks due to Agrizzi’s pain and fatique. He suffered a heart attack shortly after his arrest in October 2020. One of the charges against Agrizzi is that he obtained four tenders worth 1.8-billion-rand from Correctional Services in a corrupt manner. The case was postponed to April.
# Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, says Cabinet urges all citizens, especially the youth, to exercise their right to vote on 29 May. Ntshavheni briefed the media on the outcomes of the Cabinet meeting, highlighting the historical significance of the right to vote attained in 1994 after years of sacrifice for freedom. According to Ntshavheni, this year’s elections align with the celebration of 30-years of freedom, providing an opportunity to reflect on successes and address challenges:
# Cricket: Former Windies star player Chris Gayle hopes this year’s T20 World Cup in his home country and America will help the game make a breakthrough in the lucrative US sports market. It will be the first major international cricket tournament in America, and a sell-out crowd is especially expected when arch-rivals India and Pakistan play each other in Long Island, New York on the ninth of June. Gayle, who scored one-thousand-899 runs in 79 T20 internationals, marked 100 days to the start of the tournament in Barbados.
