# Former deputy national police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya has been denied bail in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court in Gauteng. Magistrate Hleziphi Mkhasibe ruled he failed to present sufficient grounds for release. Sibiya faces counts of sexual grooming involving a 16-year-old, raping an 18-year-old woman at a Johannesburg hotel in May, and human trafficking. He will remain at Pretoria’s Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre until 24 November. Sibiya resigned from police last week after his arrest.
