Parliament is concerned about the Department of Trade and Industry’s performance

# Parliament’s Trade and Industry committee has raised concerns over the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition’s performance in the 2025/26 financial year. The department achieved just 62-percent of its planned targets while spending 98 percent of its budget. The Auditor-General also flagged a material irregularity involving fraudulent claims from the Capital Projects Feasibility Programme. The department lost 50.8-million-rand as a result. The committee urged the department to conclude its investigations and address the root causes of the incidents.
