# The Gauteng legislature has received international recognition for its environmental efforts after winning the inaugural Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Green Mace Award. The award recognises measures including energy-efficient LED lighting, plans to install solar panels, an electric vehicle charging station and tree-planting initiatives. The legislature’s speaker, Morakane Mosupyoe, says the recognition strengthens the legislature’s commitment to making environmental sustainability part of its parliamentary work and community programmes.
