# The DA has criticised Johannesburg’s ongoing electricity outages, saying residents are bearing the cost of failing infrastructure. The DA’s Nico De Jager says parts of Lombardy East, Rembrandt Park, Alexandra and surrounding areas have been without power for a week after two transformers were damaged. He blames aging infrastructure, inadequate maintenance and vandalism. He urged preventative maintenance and stronger security to protect the city’s critical electricity infrastructure:
