Minister Hlengwa in favour of cutting of RAF fuel levy

# Deputy Transport minister Nkhululeko Hlengwa says government is looking at changing the way the Road Accident Fund is financed. Hlengwa supports a hybrid model, which could mean cutting or even scrapping the current fuel levy, while bringing in other sources of funding. These could include third-party vehicle insurance and travel insurance for foreign visitors. The RAF currently receives two-rand-27 cents per from every litre of fuel sold. Hlengwa says the current funding model is unsustainable and requires urgent reform to ensure the fund remains financially viable.
