# President Cyril Ramaphosa has called on South Sudan’s leaders to work together to achieve lasting peace and stability ahead of the country’s first general elections since independence. Speaking at a virtual African Union summit on South Sudan, Ramaphosa said credible elections must be supported by an inclusive political process, adequate security, a clear legal framework and enough resources. He also welcomed the start of an inter-party political dialogue:
