# Steel industry groups are urging the government to fast-track duty rebates on imported long-steel products following supply shortages after ArcelorMittal South Africa closed. A ten-percent general duty was imposed on long-steel imports in May, while some Chinese and Thai structural steel faces additional anti-dumping duties. XA Global Advisors chief operating officer Pieter du Plessis says companies are reporting low or no stock and delayed shipments. Meanwhile, the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa says new rebate provisions are expected to be gazetted for public comment.
