# We start off with cricket: Miané Smit’s maiden T20 century guided South Africa’s Women to a comprehensive 80-run victory over Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, extending their series lead to 4-0. Smit’s 59-ball 102 helped the Proteas post 205 for four, their third-highest T20 total and their second successive 200-plus score. Zimbabwe was then restricted to 125 for five, with Caitlin Wyngaard taking two wickets. South Africa will be eyeing a series whitewash in tomorrow’s fifth and final T20.

Other cricket news: Australian batter Steve Smith says memories of the 2018 ball-tampering scandal still return as he prepares to play a Test series in South Africa for the first time since the incident. He says the sound of camera flashes can trigger memories of the fallout during the third Test in Cape Town, which saw him banned for a year and stripped of the captaincy. Smith says he has moved on and will use any hostile reception as motivation when the Test series starts on 9 October.

# Rugby: The Springboks will complete their preparations for next year’s World Cup with a final Test against Fiji at the Polytec Stadium in Gosford, north of Sydney, Australia, on 18 September. The match will mark only the fourth time the two nations have met. Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus believes Fiji will provide his team with exactly the type of challenge they need before beginning their title defence. The Boks will aim for a historic third consecutive title in Australia.

More rugby: Springbok Women captain Babalwa Latsha says the execution of their game plan will be key in beating Wales in tonight’s first W-15 Global Series match in Cardiff Arms Park. The two nations have played against each other eight times, with Wales winning six times, including the 2014 World Cup. Latsha says they have a particular plan and a way they want to go about countering Wales’ expected kicking game:

# And soccer: Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane has named his final 30-man squad for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea in Johannesburg and Eritrea in Egypt. The squad features a strong contingent from Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, alongside several players plying their trade across Europe and the US.
