# The Commission for Gender Equality is calling for urgent action following the discovery of six women’s bodies in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng. Spokesperson Javu Baloyi says women should not have to change their routines or restrict their movement to feel safe. The commission is calling for an immediate safety audit involving police, the municipality, transport authorities and community safety structures. Baloyi says this should assess lighting, surveillance, pedestrian routes, public transport points and police visibility. He has urged residents to provide information that could help identify those responsible.
