# The DA has filed papers before the Electoral Court for leave to intervene in the ANC’s attempt to field 181 candidates in six municipalities for the November local government elections. The ANC says it could not register the candidates before the 5 pm deadline on 28 August because of technical glitches in the IEC system, a claim the electoral body has dismissed. The DA’s Jan De Villiers says rules and deadlines must apply equally to every political party wishing to contest an election:
