# Chaos erupted in the Johannesburg High Court after police allegedly blocked accused in the Cat Matlala trial from consulting their lawyers. The accused were reportedly forced into holding cells after proceedings were adjourned, prompting a confrontation between defence lawyers, police and court officials. Judge Cassim Moosa intervened and ordered that the accused be allowed to consult their legal representatives during court adjournments. Matlala and his co-accused are on trial over the murder of Matlala’s girlfriend, alleged to have been part of a wider plot involving the businessman.The trial will continue on Thursday.
