# ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula says the party has approached the candidate selection process with the seriousness it deserves. The party convened an extended National Executive Committee meeting yesterday, the final stage of the national list process before submitting candidates to the Independent Electoral Commission. This is ahead of the November local government elections. Mbalula says that at every stage, emphasis was placed on ensuring that candidates meet the standards required of public representatives:
