# The Construction Industry Development Board has honoured women-owned construction companies, academics, mentors and industry leaders at its annual Empowerment and Recognition of Women in Construction Awards in Johannesburg. Public Works minister Dean McPherson says the government remains committed to expanding opportunities for women, with award entries doubling to 160. He also reaffirmed a 300-million-rand construction fund supporting women-owned businesses. The event recognised excellence across construction, mentoring, innovation and transformation, with the government calling for women’s success to become the industry standard.
