# The Free State Legislature has partnered with the University of South Africa and the Thabo Mbeki African School of Public and International Affairs to strengthen democratic governance and public participation. The initiative coincides with celebrations marking 30 years of South Africa’s Constitution. It aims to improve constitutional education, civic engagement and community participation in law-making. The partnership also provide capacity building for public officials and researchers, while promoting evidence-based approaches to governance and helping citizens better understand their democratic rights.
