# The Electoral Commission in the Eastern Cape says youth voter registration has improved compared with the 2021 Local Government Elections. The IEC says more than 50-percent of young people in the province have registered, with the 16-to-21 age group recording the strongest growth. Electoral Operations deputy manager, Masindi Mohesana, attributes the increase to voter education and outreach at schools and universities. Registration closed on Friday, with the IEC planning intensified youth mobilisation ahead of voting.
