# The state has told the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court that suspended Ekurhuleni Metro Police deputy chief Julius Mkhwanazi and four co-accused agreed to keep silent after the alleged murder of businessman Emmanuel Mbense, and that anyone who spoke out would be killed. Mbense was assaulted, tortured and his body dumped in a dam near Nigel in 2022. The accused face charges including murder, robbery and defeating the ends of justice. The case has been postponed to 13 August for bail proceedings.
