# Police arrested 16-thousand-684 suspects for various criminal offences in a week, as part of ongoing efforts to combat and prevent crime through the nationwide Shanela Operation. Two-thousand-547 wanted individuals linked to violent offences, including murder, attempted murder, rape, carjackings, illegal possession of firearms, and house and business robberies, were apprehended. Police spokesperson Vincent Mukhathi says immigration enforcement operations were also conducted, resulting in the arrest of one-thousand-869 illegal migrants, with Gauteng recording the most arrests, at 795:
