# Tourism deputy minister Makhotso Sotyu has officially unveiled the Mthontsi Lodge and Conference Centre in KwaMaqoma, aimed at boosting tourism in the Amathole District Municipality, Eastern Cape. The 31-million-rand facility includes chalets, a backpackers’ lodge, conference facilities and supporting infrastructure. Sotyu says the project will create jobs and support local economic development through partnerships with communities and tourism stakeholders. The lodge forms part of the Tourism Growth Partnership Plan and is expected to promote heritage tourism along key cultural and liberation routes in the province.
Tourism Ministry launches new Mthontsi Lodge to boost tourism in Amathole
